Wessex ModuMax mk3 boiler
- Can the Wessex ModuMax boiler run on an open vented system?
Yes. The Wessex ModuMax boiler is able to operate on an open vented heating system.
We would advise compliance with minimum pressure requirements at boiler, reference guidance note INDG436 (Health and Safety Executive).
Open vent and cold feed pipes must be installed correctly and in compliance with BS6644. You can refer to the installer guide for detailed information on Open Vent and Cold Feed pipes.
However, Hamworthy recommends the use of sealed heating systems, where possible.

- Will the Wessex ModuMax mk3 be easy to get into the plantroom?
Yes, each module is delivered fully assembled and even the largest 762kW model will pass through a standard doorway.
For sites that are more difficult such as basement and rooftops, the modules can be separated and rebuilt when in position.
Take a look at this case study of the Langham Hotel where the boilers were separated and carried up to the rooftop plantroom.
- What is the maximum working pressure of the Wessex range?
The maximum pressure rating of the Wessex is 10bar.
This pressure is the maximum pressure that the boiler can be subjected to, or in effect the maximum lift pressure rating of the boiler safety valve.
So to allow for a pressure buffer range of 0.7-0.8bar the maximum "working pressure" would be 9.2-9.3bar.
