The RIGB is an independent charity dedicated to connecting people with the world of science. With three floors of exhibition, events space, a café, bar and restaurant, the heating and hot water temperatures must be precise.

Founded in 1799, the RIGB has built a reputation for excellent lectures, cutting-edge science, and science communication has been a major force in many scientific discoveries. Hamworthy is proud to be playing its part in heating the building for the various facilities on offer.

The Purewell VariHeat boilers were specified by Faber Maunsell for their compactness and resilient performance; particularly as the plant room is narrow and requires the best use of limited space available.

Designed as replacement for cast iron atmospheric boilers, the Purewell VariHeat boilers are suitable for multiple boiler installations, such as the RIGB, and have a comprehensive controls package which can be configured to meet the exact needs of the heating system. Hamworthy supplied the boiler cascade sequence control system which optimises the use of the boilers for maximum performance and reliability.
